The start of my journaling

This week I learned about the importance of keeping a journal. Of course that as members of the Church we have heard of it and we were encouraged to keep a record of our learnings, testimonies, and relevant events that could help future generations know us best and get closer to the Lord by our example and diligence, but it has always been a challenge for me because I’m not good with writing and even good things happen to me every day, I was never able to put it into written words.

Now it is not an option and I am thankful for that because I’m compelled to be humble and repent for not listening to this counsel before. I still feel I’m too weak at writing so I’ll try to do my very best to improve and be both obedient to the calling of the modern prophets to write our history and fulfill my assignment in this course.

Something I read that really caused an effect in me was the experience of Jeff Sandefer with a former student in the jetway, especially when he thought that his classes didn’t impact his previews pupil, but when he took a folder with many notes and told him that there were so many lessons that he learned that he couldn’t choose a single one to share as the most important.

I know I have to improve in this aspect of my life, and I know it will benefit not only my academic learning but my entire life and the lives of future generations that will take the good and learn from the bad things I write in my journals. There are many testimonies of people that found answers to their prayers through the words of their ancestors, and I want to be a blessing too.
